and implements policies regarding the appointment, employment, and regular evaluation of faculty
members, regardless of contract or tenure status. These policies and procedures also preserve and
protect academic freedom. Additionally, the institution provides ongoing professional development
opportunities for faculty members as teachers, scholars, and practitioners, consistent with GAU’s
institutional mission.
18.8 Programs, Courses, and Exams
The institution offers the following medical programs and courses, as shown in the schematic below.

School of Medicine – Premedical Program and Doctor of Medicine Programs
18.8.1 School of Medicine Exams
Students who successfully complete each doctor of medicine year’s program are eligible to write the
NBME and can proceed to the next year of study. In order to receive the Doctor of Medicine from GAU,
students must pass their individual course assessments and Professional Development
Weeks/Assessment Exercises years 1-2, GAU Comprehensive OSCE Exams years 2 and 3, NBME
Comprehensive Exam year1, 2 and 4. Students must pass the board certifying exam (USMLE, PLAB, CAMC
etc.) to practice medicine.
