18.8.3 Sonography Exams
Students will be assessed using both formative and summative assessments throughout the courses. At
the end of both year 1 and year 2, students must pass the comprehensive OSCE exams. Prior to
practicing, students must pass the board certifying exams.
18.8.4 Other Programs and Courses
GAU has program offerings for safety and health. These cover ISO 9001:2015 standards, American Heart
Association (AHA) First Aid, and OPITO basic safety standards for personnel employed in the Oil and Gas
industries. It plans to introduce allied health sciences programs during 2020/21. These programs will be
introduced prior to mid- 2020, which is the deadline for submission of the accreditation request to
SACS_COC. After the submission, no significant changes can be made to GAU’s curriculum during the 4 –
5-year review period for accreditation.
19.0 Departments and Services
19.1 Each Program has its own Department which is led by a faculty member who resumes the
position as Head of Department
19.1.1 The Premedical Sciences Department
The Department is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the courses within the premedical
sciences program and to provide strategic guidance to faculty and students on the teaching and learning
processes.
19.1.2 The Preclinical Sciences Department
The Department is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the courses within the preclinical
sciences program and to provide strategic guidance to faculty and students on the teaching and learning
processes.
19.1.3 The Clinical Sciences Department
The Department is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the courses within the clinical
sciences program and to provide strategic guidance to faculty and students on the teaching and learning
processes.
19.1.4 The Nursing Department
The Department is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of the courses within the nursing
program and to provide strategic guidance to faculty and students on the teaching and learning
processes.
