PAID TIME OFF DONATION POLICY
Mission recognizes that a full-time employee, who may experience a family medical emergency
and does not have the tenure to earn PTO nor are eligible for disability leave may qualify for PTO
Donation Policy. To address this need, all eligible employees will be allowed to donate accrued
PTO hours from their unused balance to their co-workers in need of paid time off. This can be
done by donating their unused PTO into a PTO bank managed by the payroll department, where
the donated PTO will be converted into dollars before such dollars are assigned to the recipient in
accordance with the policy outlined below. The request to participate must be initiated and
approved by the head of People Operations or his/her designee. The participation in this policy is
strictly voluntary.
Donor Eligibility:
Employees must be employed with Mission for a minimum of one (1) year to be eligible to donate
PTO time.
Guidelines:
Employees who would like to make a request to receive donated PTO from their co-workers must
have a medical need that meets the following criteria:
Medical emergency is defined as a medical condition of the employee that will require the
prolonged/extended absence of the employee from duty and will result in a substantial loss of
income to the employee due to the ineligibility of PTO and disability leave.
Donation of Paid Time Off:
• The donation of PTO is strictly voluntary.
• Donated PTO will go into a PTO bank to be used by designated recipients.
• The recipient’s medical condition and identity will not be disclosed to donating
employees, unless the recipient requests to reveal his/her identity.
• Donated PTO hours will be converted into dollars, prior to the payment of such dollars to
the recipient.
• The minimum number of PTO hours that an eligible employee may donate is one (1)
hour per calendar year; the maximum number of PTO hours that an eligible employee
may donate is eighty (80) hours or no more than fifty percent (50%) of the donating
employee’s current balance. Once the PTO donation is submitted, it cannot be reversed.
• PTO time donated will be immediately deducted from the employee’s current PTO bank.
• PTO donations will expire on donor’s PTO renewal date.
