Sick Leave: Effective on January 1, 2021, “sick leave” as mandated by the laws of the jurisdiction where you
reside will be included in your portion of the PTO allotment that you receive under Mission’s PTO policy.
Part-Time Employees: Employees who are classified as Part-Time Employees are not eligible for
PTO.
PTO Payout: Depending on the number of hours regularly scheduled to work per week, eligible
non-exempt employees are granted an option to cash in up to one (1) week of unused PTO per
anniversary year. For example, if an employee is regularly scheduled to work thirty-seven and one-
half (37.5) hours, he/she will be granted an option to cash in up to thirty-seven and one-half (37.5)
hours. In contrast, if an employee is regularly scheduled to work forty (40) hours per week, he/she
will be granted an option to cash in up to forty (40) hours. Typically, the funds for the PTO payout
will be paid at the pay date two (2) weeks after the beginning of the new anniversary year. The
request must be submitted to Payroll no later than one (1) week prior to your anniversary date.
Resignation/Termination of Employment: If Mission initiates the termination or the employee
voluntarily resigns, then all accrued, unused PTO benefits will be forfeited, unless, federal, state,
or local law dictates otherwise. If the resigning employee had pre-approved PTO for the last two
(2) weeks of employment, it will be rescinded. If an unfortunate event occurs where an employee
becomes deceased, the employee’s status will be considered an involuntary termination.
PTO Exception: Requests for PTO outside of the anniversary year may be approved on a rare
case by case basis by Mission management and the People Operations Department.
Unscheduled PTO/Unpaid Time: Non-exempt employees are not allowed to work outside of
their scheduled work hours for the purpose of making up lost time due to tardiness, authorized or
unauthorized absences or any other reason in order to save PTO. Excessive unscheduled PTO
(thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per anniversary year or forty (40) hours per anniversary
year, depending on regularly scheduled hours worked) will be subject to corrective action, up to
and including termination of employment.
