POLICY 601
MISCELLANEOUS
ARBITRATION
As a condition of employment, all eligible employment related disputes between the employee and
Mission shall be resolved through binding arbitration. This means that the employee and Mission
are waiving the right to sue one another before a jury or in a court of law. Instead, by mutual
selection, an arbitrator who is registered with the American Arbitration Association will be
appointed to render the final and binding decision.
As a condition of employment, all employees are required to sign the Mission Arbitration
Agreement. A separate written Arbitration Agreement will be forwarded to an employee for review
and signature. However, nothing in this paragraph alters the employment at-will relationship
between an employee and Mission. For more information, please contact the head of the People
Operations or his/her designee.
SERIOUS DISEASES
Employees with infectious, long-term, life-threatening or other serious diseases or illnesses may
work as long as they are able to perform the duties of their job without undue risk to their own
health or the health of other employees, customers or members of the public. Employees are
required to cooperate with supervisors/managers and the People Operations Department’s request
for information. Likewise, employees concerned about being infected with a serious disease or
illness by a co-worker, customer or other individuals should convey this concern to their
supervisor/manager or the head of the People Operations or his/her designee.
Employees afflicted with a serious disease or illness will be treated no differently than any other
employees. Therefore, if the serious disease or illness adversely affects their ability to perform
assigned duties, those employees will be treated like any other employees who have performance
related issues.
Mission will comply with applicable occupational safety regulations concerning employees
exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Universal precautions, engineering and
work practice controls and personal protective equipment should be used where appropriate to
limit the spread of diseases in the workplace.
