5) Retroversion of the uterus


                   II ) Secondary causes :


                   1) Increased intra-  abdominal pressure: chronic  cough, chronic constipation,

                   ascites, abdominal pressure, and obesity.



                   2) Increased weight of the uterus


                   3) Traction on the uterus


                   Complications of prolapse


                   The Vagina:



                   1- The vagina wall becomes thickened due to congestion and edema.


                   2- Vaginal mucosa becomes dry& due to exposure to air


                   3- Decubital ulcer due to: friction with the thighs and clothes, irritation by urine

                   and faces, atrophy of vaginal mucosa occurring after the menopause.



                   The Cervix


                   1) Hypertrophy of the cervix due to congestion and edema.


                   2) Trophic ulcer may occur.


                   The Body of The Uterus



                   1- There is congestion of the endometrium.


                   2- In second and third degree: uterine descent, the uterus id found retroverted.


                   The Tubes and Ovaries:


                   1- These become prolapsed with the uterus
