Sutured any perineal laceration immediately after delivery, pelvic floor
exercise; if prolapse is detect during the perineum period a ring pessary is applied
proper spacing of pregnancy.
c) At hysterectomy.
The stumps of the round, cardinal and uterosacral ligaments are sutured to the
vault of the vagina to prevent its prolapse.
II) Palliative or pessary Treatment:
A pessary does not cure prolapse. It only keeps the uterus up and gives
temporary relief of symptoms. A pessary is indicated in the following condition:
1- Prolapse of uterus in early pregnancy.
2- Prolapse detected in the puerperium.
3- Slight degree of prolapse in a young woman until she completes her family.
4- When the patient refuses the surgery
5- Help in healing of a trophic ulcer.
III) Surgical treatment:
It is the curative treatment and indicated only if symptoms are present .
Preoperative Preparations:
1) Blood picture
2) The urinary tract is investigated
3) Treated the trophic ulcer of the cervix by putting a pack of gauze in the vagina
soaked in flavine solution to reduce the prolapse to diminish congestion.
