Mrs. Dodson's Cake

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
½ cup Crisco
3 eggs
4 Tbsp cocoa
pinch salt (¼ to ½ tsp)
1 tsp baking soda
1½ cups buttermilk
2 cups flour

Cream together the sugar and Crisco. To this add
the eggs, one at a time. Beat in cocoa and salt.
Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to mixture. Add
flour and mix well. Bake in three layers at 350°F
until done, about 30 minutes.

Note: Cake may also be baked in an oblong 9x13
pan or two 9" layer pans.

Icing:
1 stick margarine
1 box powdered sugar
4 Tbsp cocoa
4 Tbsp coffee

In a saucepan, melt margarine. To this add
powdered sugar, cocoa and coffee and mix well.
