TUESDAY Plenary Session: Social Justice and Equality
Crowne Plaza Hotel Palace Ballroon located on the 2nd floor
4:00PM-5:00PM
Working from a script of To My White Friends That Know Me, written by
Deborah L. Plummer Ph.D. and directed by Tony F. Sias, this
is a 25-minute vignette from a three-act play, designed as Diversity,
Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Edutainment. Through
engaging, substantive, and often humorous dialogue, audiences
are kept actively engaged and ready to participate in the post-
show discussion facilitated by Dr. Plummer.
To My White Friends Who Know Me is brought to LHAT by Karamu
House, the oldest, producing African American theatre in the
nation and in partnership with Getting To We, Inc. Karamu
House stands tall in our nation as an inclusive institution that
has served as a common ground for Cleveland’s diverse
community since 1915. Getting To We’s initiatives and
programs serve to incubate new ideas for building social
trust as the bedrock of a healthy society and a foundational
aspect for achieving equity. Audiences of the performance
will leave with information and inspiration…achieving racial equity
one friend at a time.
