               University Partnerships

Working with Prairie State and campus administration, we have identified students to enroll in the
Early College Programs. Seniors who were enrolled in the Fall Semester will continue taking
courses in the areas of Early College (English, Math, and Social Science) or Emergency Medical
Technician (EMT). We are offering two additional cohorts for seniors to enroll in the Certified
Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and the Early College program. Students new to the Early
College Program this spring are enrolled in the courses offered this past fall.

               Curriculum
Working with several district administrators, campus administrators, and counselors, we have
begun the work on updating the district’s curriculum handbook. The focus of the work is to align
our course offerings with the campus academy structures. When students identify their pathways,
they will be able to see their sequence of courses, credentials/certification, college credit options,
               and career opportunities.

               Career Technical Education (CTE)
With the new guidelines for the Perkins V grant and the career focus of the Illinois State Board of
Education, our district is expanding course offerings and pathways. We are currently working on
creating and enhancing the following pathways: Agricultural Science, Mechatronics, Information
Technology, Education, Fire Science, Phlebotomy, and Physical Therapy Assistant. Our
partnerships with Prairie State, Northern Illinois, Loyola, and community organizations will provide
our students the ability to earn college credit, industry credentials, and gain the work-based
experiences that will make them marketable.

                                                                                                         th
Working with our feeder schools, we are organizing a way to infuse career exploration in the 8
grade experience. The vision is to allow students to learn about careers both locally and across the
globe. Students will learn about the necessary education, required skillsets, salary, entry level
opportunities, and career advancement. This partnership aligns with ISBE’s and Perkins V
               guidelines.
