National Naval Defense Cadet Corp (NNDCC) Update
For the first year of the program, there are 41 students enrolled. Accomplishments to date are
the understanding of citizenship and accountability for their individual actions. Students have
also been taught to be on time and ready to participate in class discussions and preparedness
for quizzes and not making excuses for work not completed.
Second semester the cadets will hopefully be participating in various activities outside the
classroom. The activities will include Drill Competition, SeaPerch assembly (underwater
robotics), academic postal matches and in person Academic Brain Brawls with other schools in
the Chicagoland Area, Physical Fitness Postal and in person Physical Fitness Challenges.
Community service project are a big part of the program, and include various activities, i.e.,
highway clean-up, visiting Senior Citizen home for playing games with the residents, parades
and presenting the Color Guard at Basketball/Football games before the season is over.
The next year will be pride for the current cadets and future cadets with the right funding. The
instructor, Chief Gregory, normally generates around $30,000 a year from Northwestern
University by cadets working the concession stands (10-12 percent of each stand sometime 20
percent/depending on who they are playing) I currently have some students that should be a
part of Basic Leadership Training (BLT) at Marseille, IL Army National Guard Facility this
summer. These cadets help facilitate the training of new cadets for the 2021-2022 SY.
