Our activity sponsors have also been working diligently to offer virtual opportunities for our
participants, which include the drama and musical theater offering Raptors Got Talent and The
Day We Were Silenced, our Student Council put together several events, including Spirit Weeks
and Valentines’ Day deliveries. The Snowball group hosted a virtual retreat for students and are
currently planning a second event for second semester. The Business Professionals of America
have competed in virtual area and State competitions, hoping to qualify students to compete at
the National level in the next few months.
Facilities
Over the past year, we have been able to upgrade facilities and re-brand our gymnasiums to
represent the Rich history and usher in a new era of the Raptors. Both gymnasiums, at the Fine
Arts and Communication and STEM campuses have undergone facelifts and a new videoboard,
scoreboard, and bleachers were installed in the Fine Arts and Communications gymnasium

With the COVID-19 restrictions and the district deep cleaning procedures, we have needed to
make some adjustments to the original schedule of home campus athletics. All athletics that
were originally scheduled to compete at the STEM and Fine Arts & Communications campus are
still using this facilities, with the exception of Boys and Girls Volleyball, Cheerleading, and
Softball. These four sports teams will now be competing at the STEM campus.
Also due to COVID restrictions and Southland Athletic Conference rules no spectators are
allowed at the games this year. In lieu of these restrictions, we have added a few new items to the
gymnasiums to ensure we can still offer our families the opportunity to see their athletes
compete. Each campus is equipped with a Hudl camera and we have created a YouTube channel
to live stream our home games.

posted on the website for easy accessibility for our families.

We continue to walk the facilities to ensure playing fields are ready for our athletes, but a new
IHSA calendar and the weather has presented some obstacles. Our buildings and grounds team
has been working to ensure the football field was cleared of snow and we have been thinking
outside the box to get space for our Soccer program to start their practices, as well.
During this past year, we have also been discussing the facility upgrades and the addition of a
new field house where we will be able to offer our athletes even more opportunities to prepare
for the next level in their career. These upgrades will include a new weight room, fitness center,
athletic trainer’s office, 200-meter track, and three wood basketball courts. With these upgrades,
will be able to train our athletes in a college-like environment, expend our capacity to host bigger
and better tournaments, and host regional and sectional events for the IHSA.
Along with the field house addition, we have also been planning for a new football stadium,
which will offer a turf field playing surface, new track, and the first ever state-of-the-art lighting
and sound system that no other school in Illinois has.
