The core academic programs for Rich Township High School listed above serve our students in a variety
of ways. The Pre-AP program is offered to our non-honors students in the core subjects of English, Math,
Science, and Social Studies and serves both freshmen and sophomores. The data presented above
shows the enrollment for the freshmen class only. The 2020-21 school year is the first year of for
sophomore students experience the sophomore Pre-AP classes of Chemistry, English II, and
Geometry/Statistics. The sophomore enrollment in Pre-AP is 744.
The Advanced Placement (AP) enrollment data listed above shows a decline in the number of students
enrolled, but the annual enrollment is consistent when compared to the total enrollment of school.
Declining enrollment overall will also decrease the number of students enrolling in AP courses.
Student enrollment in our Early College Program has increased significantly. We have more than tripled
the enrollment. This partnership provides our students the opportunity to earn high school credit,
college credit and ultimately saving families thousands of dollars in tuition. The district along with Prairie
State College (PSC) have provided supports for students to successfully navigate life as high school
student as well as a college student.
After a year of planning, we have implemented the Middle Years Program (MYP) as part of the
authorization process for International Baccalaureate. We have thirty-three students enrolled for the
first year and have allowed for 200 seats for the 2021-22 school year. These seats will be open to both
freshmen and sophomore students
The National Navy Defense Cadet Corp (NNDCC) has taken shape this year and we have enrolled forty-
seven students from all grade levels and both male and female. The Cadets are learning about
citizenship and accountability. The curriculum continues to build the leadership skills, fitness challenges,
and build on opportunities for experiences within the community when possible.
