blessings very visible (1 Kings8:22-23, 28-29).
3. Kneeling
a. It is a sign of our humble heart’s attitude before the
Lord.
b. It is a visual demonstration of our submission to His
authority.
c. It is a sign of earnest appeal.
4. Lying prostrate before the Lord
a. Symbolizes utmost humility before the Lord
b. Illustrates the beatitude of being poor in spirit.
c. We have nothing to bring. We cannot even look at
you.
d. Acknowledge our unworthiness.
e. Recognize our need for God’s mercy (See Luke 5:12).
f. It is a correct response to a serious crisis. See
Numbers 20:2-2-6 etc. (When the leaders of Israel
faced impossible situations and realized that only
God could help them, they fell on their faces before
Him and called upon Him for advice and help.
Application
a. What do we learn from prayer positions when we pray?
b. Is there any preferred position for prayer during worship
services?
Remember what Calvin said: There is no use lifting up hands,
while in sluggishness, the heart is still cleaving to the earth?
