DIGGING DEEPER
From the Scriptures, it is clear that perseverance in our prayers is
particularly important for our life of prayer and daily walk with God.
Perseverance does not mean we have to pray every available minute
of the day. It does mean that prayer MUST NOT BE AN INCONVENIENT
ADD-ON to our lives. Our lives must become a life of prayer as we
grow closer to God and more and more realize we can do nothing
without Him, absolutely nothing!
Perseverance in prayer tells how dependent we are on God and that
means we could pray and pray without end. However, if you use your
persistent prayer to force your will on God, “stop!” because that can
never happen.
Especially when we are tested in our faith, perseverance in prayer is
the answer. Not receiving God’s answer immediately does not mean
we should quit praying. Especially then we have to persist, for God’s
glory and our benefit.
According to Luke 18:8, the sincerity of our faith is proven in our
perseverance. When we truly trust God, even when we still do not
see his grace, continue to pray for it. Perseverance in our prayer
proves that we are serious with our prayers and thus also in our
faith!
So, persistent prayer shows that we are serious with our prayer and
faith.
8.8 Limitation of our prayers
Read 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 and Deuteronomy 3:25-26
Does perseverance in prayer mean we have to
continue to pray for all things?
Could we determine in advance the things we should
stop praying for?
