DIGGING DEEPER
The word boldness is used in the Greek language for the right a citizen
of a country has to speak to give his opinion in a public meeting. The
boldness/confidence has then nothing to do with his emotions, but
the right he possesses by birth. Our boldness to draw near to God in
prayer is a God-given right based upon the forensic act of God’s
justification. Sometimes we do not feel like coming before God,
usually because of our sin and guilt. It is then when we can and must
exercise this right given to us in grace through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Application
a. What sometimes hinders you to come before the Lord in
prayer?
b. How does it comfort you that you could always come to God
with confidence?
