Dodging raindrops, we toured the tank farm as we received an
overview of the responsibilities of running a megaterminal that
thruputs about 22 million gallons of product monthly. The
storage tanks range in size from 28,071 barrels (diesel) tc>
98,541 banels (unleaded). [A barrel equals 42 gallons.]
Doraville is manned 24 hours a day by highly trained and
skilled terminal operators performing a myriad of
responsibhities. They safely and efficiently receive, store and
disperse controlled product to our customers.
We must also thank our professional dnvers - Ray Bichop,
CyEvans,TyroneLewis,RonPittman,andHaroldStrickland.
Nine of us rode with them to make a delivery. They were
patient with our questions as they explained their vanous
procedures, including ADEC, the computer system on board
the trucks that records mileage, arrival and departue times
and miles per hour (it beeps if they exceed 58 mph). Each
truck is safety checked twice per shift. These drivers have
impressive processes in place for quality control and safe (L to R) Slari Hughes,
deliveries. That's why they've accrued 929,000 miles without Steve Dixon, Wendy

neighborhoods around the teminals. They also benefit from
this partnership when one of the terminals runs out of product,
by exchanging product to meet the needs of the situation.
One of the astonishing things we learned was the result of
installing the Stage 11 Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU). In the last
12 months, the terminal recovered 421,186 gquons of gasoline
via vapors returned to the VRU. (L to R)
