2 Metre Rule

Social distancing is in place to prevent the spread of the virus from person to person. The 2 metre rule was created to illustrate the distance
  required to maintain social distancing.

Social distancing and the 2 metre rule must be strictly adhered too at all times. This includes any working, during breaks,

waiting to use toilets, passing in corridors, through doors etc. Any kind of physical contact must be avoided this includes

shaking hands to greet, through to lifting heavy equipment side by side.

Where tasks are of a nature that require two or more people to work in close proximity to each other, the tasks must be risk assessed on a case
by case basis, the principles of prevention and the hierarchy of controls will be used to create the best and safest working method for each

  situation.

Tasks that require people to work within 2 metres of each other will only be permitted to occur if:-

  1. They are of a safety critical nature, and not performing the task would result in imminent danger to any persons; or
  2. They are vital to the project and works cannot progress without the task being completed.

In cases of point 1 where there is sufficient time, and in all cases of point 2, a task specific risk assessment is to be conducted to determine most
suitable control measure for each situation.

All tasks carried out within a 2 metre range must be with prior permission from the CTS Site Management Team under a

COVID-19 WORKING WITHIN 2M permit. The methodology must also follow the Construction Leadership Council’s latest

  COVID-19 guidelines.
