Abstract Nowadays, new technology Li-Fi has discovered the usage of internet access from
Wi-Fi. The Li-Fi is known as a Light-Fidelity bidirectional wireless system that transmits data
via LED or infrared light. Li-Fi technology only needs a light source with a chip to transmit an
internet signal through light waves. Li-Fi uses visible light consider as a solution to mitigate
RF spectrum crunch. Li-Fi technology not only provides an alternative spectrum source, but it
also offers advantages such as no electromagnetic interference (EMI), high security with line-
of-sight communication, and multi-functionality of the light source. The purpose of this study
is to analyse and develop the Li-Fi system and hardware input/output circuit the Light Emitting
Diode (LED) on comparison between receiver part has been testing. Also, by developing a user
(Receiver PC) interface using Arduino IDE programming, the sample data (text) transferred
was monitored and the speed, efficiency, security and capacity of the system was examined
and discovered to be top-notch. This data transmission system is different from those in
existence because expensive components were not in the design, invariably reducing the overall
cost of the implementation. The reliability and network coverage are the main issues here to be
considered in this project. Interference from external light sources like sunlight, normal bulb
and opaque materials in the path of transmission will cause an interruption in the
communication system.
