Uncle Leong runs a stall called “Leong Hainanese Chicken
Rice” at Shunfu Hawker Centre. He has been cooking this
dish for 40 years. When he was young, he learnt how to
cook duck rice from his dad. However, he decided to sell
chicken rice instead because it is easier to cook.
He worked hard to raise his children and send them
to university. Uncle Leong also advised us, “Whatever
we do, we must do it wholeheartedly — whether it is
cooking or studying.”
According to a newspaper article, Uncle Leong’s stall is
one of the top five chicken rice stalls in Singapore. His
stall also offers many other side dishes. “Uncle Leong told us to do everything
