Student’s Reflections

Student 1: Irfan Idraki Bin Kamalruzaman
My involvement in the sustainability project with Knots Café has been truly
eye-opening. It has shown me that sustainability is not just a trendy term but a
fundamental principle we must all embrace to safeguard our planet. Our task was
to assess XpressFlower’s sustainability practices at Knots Café and propose eco-
solutions to enhance environmental performance. Working with a real SME provided
invaluable practical experience, allowing us to apply classroom knowledge in a
tangible setting. I have realised the critical importance of businesses integrating
sustainable practices, not only for environmental preservation but also for their long-
term economic viability. This project has heightened my sense of environmental
responsibility and inspired me to delve deeper into sustainability practices.
Student 2: Clyde Jacob Sonson Vallejo
Participating in the sustainability project with XpressFlower was an enlightening
journey for me. I was struck by the profound impact even a small business like
Knots Café can have on the environment. Witnessing the dedication of the SME’s
ESI Team employees to sustainability was genuinely inspiring, particularly their utilisation of
recycled materials for packaging and their efforts to minimise waste. Our project
tasked us with identifying areas for further sustainability improvement and taught
me valuable research and data analysis skills. It reinforced my belief in the transformative power of small actions on the
environment, empowering me to make more sustainable choices in my personal life.

Student 3: Nur Adilah Binte Mohamed Yusof
Engaging in the sustainability project with XpressFlower proved challenging and fulfilling. Collaborating with a real SME and
applying classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios was an enriching experience. Conducting an environmental review
of Knots Café and devising eco-solutions offered valuable insights into embedding sustainability throughout a business’s
operations, from materials to delivery. I learned firsthand the significance of stakeholder engagement in sustainability
endeavours, and how companies can leverage partnerships to drive positive environmental outcomes. This project has
heightened my awareness of the human impact on the environment and motivated me to be a champion of sustainability
in my personal and professional endeavours.
