Student’s Reflection
My experience working on this project in a mosque was enriching and eye-opening. It allowed me
to immerse myself in a different culture and interact with its people in a unique setting. This project
reinforced the importance of our collective efforts towards sustainability. I firmly believe that each
of us has a role in preserving our environment for future generations.
Having undergone plumbing practicals at ITE, I now realise the significance of acquiring such
skill sets. These lessons have equipped me to contribute meaningfully in various areas, such as
our project focused on water conservation. Being involved in this project has been a rewarding
experience for me. It’s fulfilling to know that I am positively impacted by applying the knowledge
and skills gained from my education.
As an intern at Darul Ghufran mosque, I had the opportunity to engage with clients personally,
gaining deeper insights into their challenges and concerns. This information proved invaluable
during discussions with my supervisor and team, enabling us to address on-the-ground issues
promptly. In addition to facilitating meetings, I was entrusted with the system’s daily operation and
essential maintenance. Utilising my spare time, I was responsible for educating stakeholders on the
significance of environmental conservation and the importance of systems like drip irrigation for
the mosque.
