ESI Team also needs to spend countless hours researching suitable components for the SRD prototype, testing the prototype
and recording the operating data of the R32 air conditioner, so the outcome of the prototype can meet the expectations of BMS
requirements.
Although there may be some upfront costs for installing the SRD for the consumer, the long-term benefits of reducing energy
consumption and carbon emissions are inevitable. The cost of the SRD will be a fraction of the current price in future. SRD is still
under the research and development stage and has more room for improvement.
After testing the SRD onsite and in-house, BMS feedback is that they are delighted with the SRD prototype, and they hope to
develop the prototype further and apply it in commercial air conditioning. BMS is also contemplating incorporating an auto shut
valve for fire safety and reducing the size and cost of the prototype. Lastly, the ESI team wants to thank BMS for their time and
support; without BMS's help and advice, this eco solution would not be possible.
Student's Reflection
Participating in the Sustainability Project with has been a valuable learning opportunity that made
me become increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability in every aspect of our daily lives,
particularly when it comes to energy use and environmental impact. This awareness led me to reflect
on my experience with Daikin air conditioning systems, which have stood out to me not only for their
performance but also for their commitment to sustainability. Therefor the proposed solution to Detect
a leakage of a Refrigerant that is harmful to environment and can cause global warming is by installing
a Smart Refrigerant Detector (SRD) on top of CU. With the SRD installed it can monitor the Pressure
Setpoint at 80 PSI. If there is a leak, the pressure will decrease and once the pressure hits lower than
80 PSI, the SRD will alert the user with a message sent to the user WhatsApp or Email indicating which
Muhamad Danial Aircon has a low-pressure alarm and will also send the Technician phone number so that the user can
Hezri contact the technician and let them check the Air Con. This Sustainability Project has made me have a
Higher Nitec in Facility greater sense of responsibility to learn and understand more about sustainability practices.

Participating in this sustainability project has taught be valuable lessons that helped increase my
understanding and learn about the importance of sustainability. In this project, we target the leakage
of refrigeration gases. Since refrigerant is very harmful to the environment and leakage from our
home air conditioning units are a huge possible cause of it, my team have decided to work with to
come up with a Smart Refrigerant Detector (SRD). Hence the proposed solution to detect a leakage
of a Refrigerant which is harmful to environment and can cause global warming. By installing a Smart
Refrigerant Detector (SRD) on top of compressor unit (CU). With the SRD installed, it can monitor the
Pressure Setpoint at 80 PSI. If there is a leak, the pressure will decrease and once the pressure reaches
lower than 80 PSI, the SRD will alert the user by sending a message to the user via WhatsApp or Email
indicating which Aircon has a low-pressure alarm and will also send the Technician phone number so
that the user can contact the technician and let them check the Air Con. This project has helped me
