Leaving Stuyvesant Town for Irvington

Zoe Issac, School of the Future

We live in an apartment building in Stuy Town. My father was afraid
we could get the virus because New York is very crowded. So we moved to my
      grandparents house in the suburbs.
My grandparent’s house is bigger than our apartment. In fact you could
fit three copies of my apartment in this house. Our bedroom is downstairs,
and we have a big living room downstairs with a TV and a computer. There is
room and we need the room because sometimes Noah and I are doing Zoom at
the same time and my Dad is working on his computer.
We have lunch and breakfast downstairs, and we have dinner upstairs
with Grandma and Opa. Sometimes we go outside and play ball in the backyard.
Sometimes my brother Noah helps my Dad with planting seeds in the yard
or weeding or landscaping. The yard has a big oak tree that keeps dropping
branches. We have to be careful and stay away from that part of the yard.

There is a nature preserve with a path that starts in front of the house.
We go up that path which leads to a forest with a pond. There is a wood deck
with a fence on one side of the pond. We stand there and sometimes we bring
bread to feed the geese. We throw small pieces of bread over the fence of the
deck and the geese gobble it up. The pond also has frogs - I’ve heard them but
I’ve never seen them. But I have seen little tadpoles that look like little floating
rocks. Sometimes I see deer. When I was six, I was walking to a different pond
in different woods and I looked down and there was a snake right next to my
foot. But that hasn’t scared me off going into the woods.

The house is part way up a hill, and we see people walking their dogs up
the hill. My father orders groceries that are delivered, because he is afraid to
let my grandparents go to the supermarket. He also helps Grandma with her
computer and he helps with the yard. He gets rid of weeds and plants grass
seed. My uncle helps me with school work and he also helps Grandma clean up
      dishes.

Even though this is a nice house, I miss my normal life back in NY. Stuy
town is very nice. There is a fountain in the middle of it. The fountain has
a wide pool with jets of water coming up in the center of it. We used to run
around the fountain when we were little. We also threw pennies into it. There
