Rotary Examiners

Known as ‘Heli Exam’, the Rotary
Examiners are based at RAF
Shawbury alongside 1FTS. They
are independent of the training
school but share flying facilities.

The team is made up of three QHIs and two
QHCIs. One of the QHIs is an Army Air
Corps instructor reflecting the broader na-
ture of the role within the tri-service helicop-
ter communities.

Gliding Examiner

The sole Gliding Examiner is based at RAF
Syerston in Lincolnshire. He provides as-
surance of flying instruction across all Vi-
king Gliding Schools (VGS) which geo-
graphically span the United Kingdom.
