CONGRESSWOMAN MARCIA FUDGE
In nominating Ohio’s Marcia Fudge to be his administration's Secretary of Housing and
Urban Development, President Joe Biden said: “She understands where you live
impacts on your health, access to education, jobs and economic opportunity.”
Congresswoman Fudge was first elected to the U.S. House in 2008 from the 11th
District in Northeast Ohio. She served as mayor of Warrensville Heights from 2000
until her move to Congress. She was chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus
in 2013 and 2014.
The Cleveland native will become the 18th HUD secretary when confirmed by the U.S.
Senate.
“I remember the feeling I had as a kid of the safety, security and peace of mind
contained in one word: home,” Fudge has said about the importance of her new post.
“I will do everything in my power to ensure every American has a roof over their head.”
