International

Design Competition

The SDC International Design Competition forms a key part of the SDC’s design education pathway,
creating a pool of people for wider educational engagement. Each year we engage with hundreds of
students globally, encouraging the creative and original use of colour.

In 2017 the competition was open to undergraduate fashion and textile design students in 14 countries, as we welcomed
Sri Lanka to the competition for the first time. The theme was ‘Design for a Circular Economy’.
The grand final was held as part of the SDC’s
international conference in Sri Lanka in November.

The finalists were as follows:
• Bangladesh: Anower Hossain Sawon, BGMEA University
of Fashion and Technology
• China: Li Shan, Fuzhou University
