• If there is a sidelight, there shall be only one sidelight on one side of
the door.
• The sidelight shall contain one cut-out for glass, which can be clear or
of a privacy, patterned or stained, glass type.
• The total area fraction of glass in the sidelight and door combined
shall not exceed 35%.
• The main door may be solid, or the main door can have a 1/4 light
or other small glass inlay
• If there is no sidelight, the following standards apply for any glass
that may be present in a door:
o The glass must be a 1/4 light or of a pulse light type (no
1/2, 3/4, or full lights on front doors)
o If the width of a cut-out is less than 1/4 of its height, the
cut-out must be at least 12” wide (no long narrow
vertical cut-outs)
o The glass may be clear, or of a privacy, patterned or
stained-glass type
