First Floor Ready for Makeover

The main floor of the Club has been stripped to its
studs, ready for a fresh coat of paint and redecoration.
Wood walls are scheduled to be cleaned, while the
hardwood floor will undergo overdue repairs.
The walls have been readied for reupholstery, the
process for which revealed an incredible find: A brief
note (below) scribbled in pencil on the wall inscribed

June 27 , 1892. This dates back to the year construction
of the Clubhouse - originally the Gooderham family
home - was completed, and members of our
modern day construction team were pleasantly
surprised to find such an old tie to the past. An
additional note from 1976 hinted at another
refresh in that era.
The redecoration process will also include painting
of the various ceilings across the main floor.
Overall, the 'bones' of the building have held up
incredibly well over time, with very minimal
structural work required.
The Gooderham home was indeed very well-built!
