TOPIC 5 – CLEAN UP WORK AREA
CONSULT WITH AUTHORISED PERSONNEL TO ENSURE SAFETY
SYSTEM IS DISMANTLED AND REMOVED AND CLEAR WORK
AREA AND DISPOSE OF OR RECYCLE MATERIALS
Once you have finished the work at heights, you need to check your work instructions
and job sheets to make sure everything has been done and to see if there are any other
tasks that need to be completed. You might also check with your supervisor or manager
to make sure there have been not additions or changes to the job.
It is only once the work has been finished that you can begin dismantling any safety systems
and begin to clean up the work area.
User must review necessary revise fall control measures-
When the control measure does not control the risk so far as is reasonably
practicable
Before a change at workplace that is likely to give rise to a new or different risk
to health and safety that the control measure may not effectively control
A new relevant hazard or risk is identified
The results of consultation indicate that a review is necessary.
DISMANTLING SAFETY SYSTEMS
Once you have established that you no longer require the safety systems for future work,
you can begin to dismantle them. When dismantling a safety system, you must ensure you
follow manufacturer’s instructions, workplace policies and procedures and consult with
authorized person.
This will help ensure that no damage is done to the safety system and that it is
dismantled safely and efficiently. During the removal of safety systems make sure you are
never in a position where you could fall from an unprotected edge.
Perimeter guardrails should be configured, installed, used and dismantled by a
competent person in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
