Ring

                                              Vinyl tape or whipping twine
                                                 Scissors or sharp knife
                                                Hot knife or heat source
                                                           Ruler

                  Unlay the rope 2 or 3 inches (50 to 80 mm) and tape or seize each of the
               individual strands. Tape where the unlaying is to end. For ¾-inch (19 mm) rope,
               that would be 12 inches (300 mm) from the working end for a three-tuck splice;
               16 inches (400 mm) for four tucks. Unlay the rope to the tape.
                  Pass the first strand on the left (Strand A) through the ring from front to back
               and around the ring, coming out to the right of itself. Work Strands B and C the

               same way, then pass Strand C to the left, over itself, and back between itself and
               Strand B. Draw up this round of tucks tightly and remove the tape.
                  To work the second round of tucks, pick up the middle strand (B), pass it over
               the base of the third strand (C), and tuck it under the strand below (A).
