The mooring hitch is even faster and uses less rope
than the quick-release hitch, though it is somewhat
less secure. If you leave a long tail, this hitch can be
released from a distance . . . just don’t trip and untie
it accidentally.
1. Pass the line around
the anchor point from
behind and make a
loop with the working
end.
2. Pull a bit of the
standing part forward
through the loop, then
insert a bight of the
working end.
