With both the quick-release hitch and the mooring
hitch, the line must pass around the object. Some-
times after releasing the knot, the remaining line can
catch or wrap around something, preventing your
escape. The slip-free hitch solves that problem and
is a particularly good choice if your boat is tied up in a
swift-moving current.
