This is so simple it’s almost not even a knot. But the
timber hitch is remarkably effective for dragging logs
and lifting heavy poles. The more wraps you add, the
greater the holding power.
1. Pass the rope around
the log then behind and
around the standing part.
wrap the working end
around itself at least three
times.
2. Be certain to wind
the working end around
itself and not the stand-
ing part. Then tighten it
up by pulling from the
standing part.
