There is a proper way to tie off to a cleat on a boat
or dock. There are also many wrong ways. Learn the
correct method if you will spend any time around
waterfronts.

1. start with a full turn around the base of the cleat.

2. Then bring the
working end over
the cleat and
under the horn
before reversing
direction.
