1 Introduction

National Express Group (“the Group”) consists of a number of Group companies providing
        transport services in various countries. The Group companies are diverse in their size;
organizational structure; resourcing (including both staffing and technology capability and
requirements) and are distinct in their commercial operating environments. The risk profile for each
        Group company may differ significantly.

The Group is committed to providing safe, efficient, transport to all our passengers.

The purpose of this standard is to define the minimum requirements that all Group companies
must adopt in relation to audits of:

             Vehicle maintenance
             Fleet condition
             Maintenance facilities
             Maintenance planning

It also outlines the minimum requirements that Group companies must meet to manage audit non-
        conformities and findings.

It is a requirement of all Group companies to develop and implement a comprehensive audit and
management check programme to measure compliance with maintenance systems and standards,
and provide a broader view of the maintenance management arrangements.

Audit refers to the independent, structured and systematic check that arrangements are compliant
and implemented effectively, and consistently, across Group company and contractor activities.

Management checks are the more regular checks, carried out by specific levels of line
management, that day to day activities are being conducted in accordance with legislation,
        standards and procedures.

In addition to the requirements of this standard, all statutory and regulatory requirements must be
complied with. It is the responsibility of each Group company to identify and apply the legislation,
industry codes and standards, applicable to their respective operations.

Each Group company is responsible for incorporating the minimum requirements in this standard
into their management systems and operating procedures. The Group expectation is that all Group
companies will use reasonably practicable effort to comply. Group companies may exceed these
requirements where they consider it is reasonably practicable for them to do so.
