Pine-Richland School District - Return to School
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Parents

Note: Additionally, if a child is going home due to illness, if they are capable of getting their supplies
from their locker independently, this can be done. If the child is too ill, materials shall be left in the
locker for 72 hours and then made available for the parent to pick up from the vestibule to eliminate
               contact and mitigate spread.

Q: What if a student has an early dismissal?
A: If a student has an early dismissal, parents/guardians should call the school office once they arrive
notifying someone in the front office that they are in the parking lot to pick up the child.
Parents/guardians should remain in their vehicles while the office notifies the classroom teacher and has
the student gather their belongings. Once the child arrives at the front office, parents/guardians will drive
up to the front doors and a staff member will escort the child to meet the parents/guardians.
Parents/guardians will be required to show identification.

Q: How will physical distancing be practiced while students are at lockers?
A: In grades K-6, students will be directed to enter their classrooms prior to dropping off their belongings.
Classroom teachers will manage student locker trips to ensure social distancing can be achieved. An
example of how this would be achieved is by ensuring that the teacher ensures students who have
assigned lockers next to each other do not go out to the locker at the same time during the assigned locker
               breaks.

Students in grades 7-12 will visit their lockers before going to period 1. Homeroom has been eliminated
to reduce the number of transitions each day.

                                      CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

Q: How will materials/ assignments be distributed and collected?
A: The district is scheduling time for a parent and student to go to his or her classroom and pick up
materials. This is for all students including students who will be scheduled for in-person, A/B Schedule,
and/or 100% Virtual. You will receive more detailed information via an eblast from your child’s school
               building.

Q: How will student group work be handled?
A: Group work will be conducted asynchronously if students can collaborate on laptops (i.e. working
               together on a Google Doc).

Q: Are in-person labs an option for this year, or are students doing virtual labs while in class?
A: Virtual labs are encouraged. Students are encouraged to bring their own goggles. If goggles are
shared they must be cleaned before being used by any other student. Any lab work will require physical
distancing and cleaning of all materials before the next group begins.

Q: What are the procedures for students entering and exiting the class? Do all students need to use
the hand sanitizer station when they enter or leave?
A: All students should use the hand sanitizer station upon entering and leaving class. Students will need
