Stephen, one of the first seven deacons of
the newly-established New Testament
church, rebuked the religious Jewish
leaders of his day who rejected Christ as
their long-awaited Messiah, calling them
“stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart
and ears” because they continually resisted
the conviction of the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51).
And in Exodus, after Pharaoh had willingly
and continually hardened his heart in
defiance to the voice of God through
Moses, God intervened and irreversibly
hardened Pharaoh’s heart (Exodus 9:12).
Proverbs 29:1 says, “He, that being often
reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly
be destroyed, and that without remedy.” An
