The Sunday School Movement

Sunday Schools are a comparatively
recent concept. They were originally
established in Great Britain in the
1780s to educate poor children who
worked all week in factories (including
Saturdays) during the Industrial
Revolution. Sunday was the only
available time for these children to
gain an education.
