including most of Christ’s apostles). So if
God allows New Testament believers to
suffer at the hands of their enemies, that
suffering and even death is not necessarily
related to a believer’s disobedience but is
allowed for the glory and ultimate good
purposes of God (John 11:4; Rom. 8:28).
David refers to God in a physical sense
rather than a spiritual being, but John 4:24
says, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship
him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Although God at times depicted Himself as
having physical attributes, He forbids men
to make images of Him or of any other
heavenly being or earthly creature for the
purpose of worship. The first of the Ten
Commandments says in Exodus 20:4 & 5,
“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven
