Figure 4.4.16 Pulmonary Thromboembolism (Canine) CT
(a) CT+C, TP (b) CT+C, OP (c) CT+C, OP
5y FS Cattle Dog cross with progressive cough following heartworm disease treatment. Images b and c have been reformatted in oblique
planes paralleling the path of the right and left pulmonary artery, respectively. Contrast‐enhanced CT images acquired during the vascular
phase reveal discrete hypoattenuating filling defects within the right (b) and left (c) pulmonary arteries, consistent with chronic pulmo-
nary thromboembolism (a–c: arrowheads). The dog also had concurrent metastatic carcinoma resulting in multiple pulmonary masses
and nodules and thoracic lymphadenopathy (a–c).
Figure 4.4.17 Aortic Mineralization (Canine) CT
8y MC Border Collie. A thoracic CT examination was performed to evaluate the cause of
recent‐onset pleural effusion. Circumferential mural mineralization of the ascending aorta
was seen as an incidental finding (arrowheads).
