8y FS German Shepherd cross with a right
axillary mass. Alveolar infiltrates were detected
on thoracic radiographs. Images a and b are
representative images acquired at the level of
the right middle lung lobe. There are consoli-
dating alveolar infiltrates of the right middle
lung lobe with well‐demarcated air bronch-
ograms. The lobe retains normal volume, indi-
cating the presence of infiltrates rather than
atelectasis. Bronchoalveolar lavage revealed
suppurative inflammation.

5y Domestic Shorthair with 5‐month history of cough. Images c and d are representative images of the mid and caudal thorax and are
ordered from cranial to caudal. There is a prominent diffuse bronchial pattern (a,b), pulmonary hyperinflation (a,b), and right middle lung
lobe collapse (a,b: arrows) on the radiographic examination. On CT images, marked airway wall thickening is evident, and large bronchial
lumina appear dilated (c,d: arrowheads). There are additional interstitial to consolidating alveolar pulmonary infiltrates peripherally. Both
the right middle lung lobe (not shown) and the caudal component of the left cranial lung lobe (c: arrow) are collapsed. Copious mucoid
exudate was encountered on bronchoscopic examination (e). Exudate cytology revealed marked suppurative inflammation and cultured
positive for Mycoplasma.
