MANPOWER MINISTER ENSURES CONTINUED SUPERVISION OF FOREIGN
WORKERS

Jakarta - Indonesia Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah made assurance of the government's intent
to continue to supervise foreign workers (TKA) in strategic projects, including construction of
the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway.
"There is also a supervisory team that monitors (foreign workers) - a control team of foreign
workers. This will continue to supervise the hiring of foreign workers. It ensures that (they will
be hired) only according to the needs," the minister noted after meeting President Director of
PT Indonesia China High Speed Railway (KCIC) Chandra Dwiputra at the project site in Cawang,
East Jakarta, here on Monday.

Dwiputra asserted that foreign workers should be roped in as per the needs since some
industries require certain expertise not yet possessed by the local workforce.

The permission to hire foreign workers (RPTKA) will only be granted by the Ministry of Manpower
if the workers have expertise that is not yet possessed by Indonesian workers, Dwiputra
expounded.
