Mid week ride to Dungog for 13 riders, well there were at the beginning.
Well I am formally a bikie again as I successfully completed the ride just
under 250 Ks and in agony in the rear for about the last 40Ks.
We went to Dungog and I cannot tell you how lovely the valley is on a day like
today. It was a perfect 25. Nice gang of 13, so convivial chats started at
Patterson our first break. Unfortunately we lost one rider, that went off to a
medical appointment, so we wished him well. As we do for all our failing,
frailer members (like the president) who find their ailments preclude them
from riding with the mid week gang. These are the rides when you can
always get a park and a seat in the dining room.
Well moving on, we then
travelled with plenty of time to
admire the magnificent views
while we waited for the “stop”
and “go” signs we kept coming
across. Great to see the road
work fixing lots of damage
done from our crazy, wet
weather.
During his welcome, and
introducing the ride plan Ken
had mentioned the guttered
holes had bounced a rider off
the road. The bike had to be retrieved with chains from over the edge. So we
were not surprised to find all this hole filling activity going on. All in all it
wasn’t too bad considering the damage but some spots were still in a
shocking state.
We settled into the Dungog Bank Hotel less one as Ian knew someone up the
road to visit. The appetising meals were produced in a very efficient manner
for a reasonable price. We then split in several directions after a very happy
day. Well it was for me, until my rear got sore but at least I am back on a bike
which I now know is a Suzuki GS 500.
Thanks all for the company.
