Sunday 10 April
Muswellbrook
Our Second Sunday ride in April was to Muswellbrook with morning tea at Greta.
We departed McDonalds Hexham at 9.00am with four bikes and one scooter. We
rode up the Pacific Highway and onto the New England Highway. We then took
the M1 turnoff onto John Renshaw Drive, riding through to Kurri Kurri, Lovedale and
onto Greta.
After morning tea, we rode up the Hunter Expressway to Hermitage Road and
turned right onto Broke Road and out to Broke. We went from Broke out to
Milbrodale, and turned right at the Putty Road riding through Bulga and up to the
Golden Highway and out to Jerrys Plain.
After Jerrys Plain we were separated so I pulled over for the rest of the group to
catch up and when the rest of the group finally arrived, they told me they had to
stop to allow a very large Goanna to cross the road. Phill later described it as
almost the size of a crocodile! After the excitement we turned right onto Elderton
Road and rode out to Muswellbrook for lunch.
Lunch was at the Eatons Hotel and was enjoyed by all.
After lunch some of us had to refuel and we made our own way home. A good
ride with good weather and good company.
