18 May 2022* Destination: East Gresford

    Todays ride was scheduled
as a mystery ride. The less

    than mysterious destination
    was to be East Gresford.
    Originally it was to be
lunch at the pub there, but
    after the pub advised that
    the food came from the
    café next door during the
week, we went to the café
    instead.
    We had 14 riders, 13
    machines including the

Spyder on what was a cool
morning with no rain in the forecast for a change. We had one new member, Mick Dawson, who
has recently moved from Tathra joined us for the day.
After the ride briefing and the usual delay getting out onto Maitland Road, we headed off down John
Renshaw Drive until we diverted down George Booth Drive, through Richmond Vale and on to
Cessnock. After a few corners in traffic we headed through Pokolbin and on to Branxton, where we
had morning tea at the bakery.

Branxton seems to be coping quite well with being bypassed. It can still be difficult to find parking
in the main street. There are some unoccupied houses there though, so it may not be as busy as it
    appears.

After morning tea, we said goodbye to Ted and Gary and we headed toward Lochinvar. From there
we turned off through Luskintyre, were we found some roadworks and rode on through Elderslie.
From Elderslie we continued through Glendon Brook where we found even more roadworks.

Eventually we arrived at East Gresford where we had lunch on an outdoor table at the Twin Rivers
Café. We were soon joined by a dog, which I believe was called George who was scrounging food
from punters at the café. George is quite thin, which prompted Jose to go to the store and buy him a
can of dog food and a disposable tray. When our food arrived, our new best friend also benefited
from various left overs from several of us as he became the centre of the conversation. The outside
location and the good, if fairly simple, food made for a pleasant lunch.
After lunch we broke up and headed back toward Maitland. On the way home we found even more

roadworks. There is a lot of it going on at the moment.
I think we all had a good day out on our bikes. There was no rain and the good company is always
fun. I suspect George the dog had an above average day also. Hopefully, he put on a little bit of
    weight that day.

                                                                                                            .....John
