WEDNESDAY RIDE – 29 September 2021
The Long Way to CU@Park Café, Gingin
By Ride Leader Karen Moore
I am not as erudite as Dave and having recently been released from the Odyssey planning, this missive will
be short and sweet (just like me!).
When we came back from Wongan Hills last week I was reminded of the ride when Chris Hill took us
along Hay Flat Road to Gingin; so, this morning I quickly reminded myself of the route.
Having fixed the XS750 Dave decided that, from the full stable, that would be his steed today. Unfortu-
nately, once refuelled, we discovered it was leaking oil. Not happy Jan! Dave took the problem child home.
(Looks like a new gear change seal will fix the problem).
I was excited to see Nomi at the meet point – another lady for a change! Alan Roper was also on leave
today so able to join us.
Fifteen of us gathered round at 8:20am with Dave H offering Bayswater and Kalamunda and me offering
the long way to Gingin. Gingin was decided. I was pleased to see that the water across Chittering and
Chittering Valley Roads had dried out since my last foray. I can’t say the same for the bugs!
Despite clear instruction that the comfort break was just north of Bindoon-Dewars Pool Road we lost one
rider at Bindoon-Moora Road and the pull of the Bindoon Op Shop was just too much for Dave S!
I believe the toilet facilities were less than salubrious, which made it a brief stop. The baker’s dozen con-
tinued to Hay Flat Road, joining Bindoon-Moora Road before turning right onto Wells Glover Road. Once
we got to Mooliabeenee Road I had a senior moment which Dave H put right, literally!
When we got to CU@Park Café Dennis and Dave S were sitting at a long table waiting for us. After setting
the world right and suitably refreshed we made our own way home before the rain started.
Thanks to BP for TEC duties.
