WEDNESDAY RIDE - 15 September 2021
A Taste of Honey
By Timorous Spouse
There were fifteen of us assembled for the off, including Pieter Berveling (back from FIFO quarantine). I
offered a ride that would take us to The Hive in Darlington which gained the approval of the crew. How-
ever, the last bit of the ride involved a bit of dodging and manoeuvring like a rat in a maze in the labyrinthine
lanes of Darlington, so I called on navi-savvy Karen to lead for the day. With Dave H as our TEC, we set
off in dry but decidedly cool weather via Neaves, Cathedral & O’Briens. After a tinkle near Brocky’s
memorial, taking care that said tinkle didn’t contact the electric fence, we followed Copley Dale, Reen and
Stoneville before reaching the roads behind the railway line in Mundaring. It was whilst pottering along
Thomas that I spotted a road name that I’d not noticed before “Moola Rd”. Boogah, thought I, it’s a bit
late in life for me to discover the road to riches!
Before long, but after many road-junctions, we reached our destination. Formerly known as Perellas, The
Hive is under new management but still keeps up a high standard of drinks, pastries and food. The sole
drawback was the solitary single unisex lavatory to serve the restaurant, village hall and an extensive oval
and parkland.
Nice ride Karen, but I’m claiming it as mine ‘cos you made me do the write-up!
