Personal reflection of
tHe Pandemic
Aarushi Gurung
his pandemic has been a surprise to everyone. It was an overwhelming
change for all of us. We had to adapt to new lifestyles in a short span of
time. It hasn’t been easy, but we’re coping with the situation. To me, per-
Tsonally, this whole lockdown period has been both a boon and a curse.
At first I thought it would be pretty fun actually. You know, just staying at home
all day, lazing around? Oh and of course, we had internet access 24/7. Now I
won’t lie, it was pretty fun. But then, as time passed I realized that there was so
much more I could do than just sit at the corner of my room playing games or
watching anime. So, I started focusing on my hobbies! I learned how to cook
some dishes, baked cakes and cookies, learned how to skateboard, my dad taught
me how to play volleyball and well to sum it up, I’d say it was pretty productive.
As we all know, due to the pandemic, we were unable to go to school physically.
However, we still had online classes. I’ve learned a lot from online classes and I’m
glad that we’re still getting the opportunity to learn even in such a difficult time.
Having said that, online classes have their own disadvantages. There are quite
a lot of problems I’ve faced the past year. Sometimes the internet isn’t available,
other times zoom auto updates during class or my laptop keeps crashing. This
doesn’t happen all the time (obviously) but when it does, I am unable to under-
stand what is going on in class. Nevertheless, online classes have taught me a lot.
One thing I learned to value during this period of time is friendship. When
I look back and think about it, I realize just how much I took my friends for
granted. I used to see them in school every day so I didn’t give too much
thought about it, but now I can’t even meet them if I wanted to. In a way,
this lockdown period has helped me get closer to my friends and family.
