insPiring stories from tHe i am not invincible
Pandemic
Swarnika Shrestha
tested positive for COVID-19 a few
months back. I succumbed to this
horrendous infection that caused
me the most terrible symptoms
that I had ever come across. I be-
lieved I was invincible and resis-
tant to this virus since I was young
and healthy, but I was wrong. I
had taken my health for granted.
Till date, I’m still unsure as to how
I got infected with this virus. I
didn’t think much of it at first, as-
suming it was simply a minor flu. I
just took it lightly until it got worse.
I neglected to take necessary pre-
cautions when the symptoms first
appeared. To be honest, I had been
truly ignorant about the severity of
this virus. It never occurred to me
that this virus would affect me to
such an extent . But the truth is,
you never know what will happen.
The fever and joint aches were impla-
cable. I thought the excruciating pain would never end. I had no appetite
and did not desire to do anything. I had to take medicines and multivi-
tamins almost every day. Due to the nauseating dizziness I faced, I had
to rest all day long.. But by the end of the month, I had started recover-
ing. I worked on my daily routine and I tried to build up my strength.
I started eating a healthy diet, went out for walks, and exercised on a
daily basis. It took some time to get over all the pain. With familial
support, I was able to revitalize myself. My health improved steadily.
Why am I narrating this story? Because I want everyone to learn from
my mistakes and realize that neither I nor you are invincible from
this virus. Keep in mind that prevention is always better than cure.
